Throwing dates after Nikaah

Question
What’s the sunnah with dates on weddings ? Is there a sunnah ? The throwing them over the bride and groom?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The Jurists have given permissibility with regards to distributing dates as well as throwing them. However, it is advisable to distribute the dates rather than throwing them as this would be against the etiquettes of the masjid. Moreover, the Sahabah preferred distributing the dates rather than throwing.[1]
