Question
Aslmww. Is it permissible to shave an infant girls hair to facilitate even hair growth all over, in the event that there are patches where hair isn’t growing?
Also, would it be permissible to shave it so that the baby hair can be replaced by stronger hair?
Lastly, is it permissible to trim the hair of a young girl who hasn’t reached buloog yet and keep it at a fixed length (eg till the shoulders), to make looking after it easy?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is permissible to shave the head of an infant to facilitate even hair growth.
It is also permissible to cut and trim the hair of non-baaligh girls allowing them to easily maintain it.[1] However, once they become baaligh, it is not permissible to trim the hair without a valid reason.
Furthermore, one must avoid the hairstyles of kuffaar and fussaaq.
