Question
Assalamualaikum,
I made an oath, if I further do such sins, I will never get mercy and accept diseases without any hesitation. But I broken the oath and fed 10 poor. Does Allah bring back the diseases without accepting the repentance? What should I do? I did tawbah again and gave up the sin.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
First and foremost, one should never ask to be distanced from the mercy of Allah. The same goes for disease and sickness. It does not behove a believer to ask for difficulties and calamities.
Secondly, oaths should be taken for a good purpose. In this case, using it as a method of abandoning sin is commendable, however, as stated above, the consequence of not fulfilling the oath should not be deprivation of Allahs mercy. One should rather make the oath bound to personal dislikes such as spending an amount in charity or keeping multiple fasts should the oath be broken.
Almighty Allah is the Most Compassionate and the Most Merciful. Sincere tawbah is a guaranteed way of getting closer to Allah. Allah always wants what is best for His slaves. Therefore, keep making tawbah and istighfaar, His mercy will always be with you.
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
