Question
Assalmualaikum ww hope u are well I have got a question that how is it to listen to the following people 1 molana manzoor mengal 2 molana ilyas ghumman 3 molana tariq masood 4 molana tariq jameel 4 dr Israr ahmed 5 sheikh ibn Baaz 6 sheikh ibn taymiyaah 7 sheikh uthaymeen 8 sheikh fawzaan 9 abu taymiyaah 10 Akhi aymaan 11 ustaad wahaj tarin. Sorry but even mohammed hobolos. And abdul waaheed qureshi
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Imam Malik Rahimahullah said,[1]
انَّ هَذَا الْعِلْمَ دِينٌ، فَانْظُرُوا عَمَّنْ تَأْخُذُونَ دِينَكُمْ
Translation: “Indeed this knowledge is Deen. Be careful from whom you take your Deen.”
One must look for the following qualities in a speaker.
- Strict adherence to the sunnah, in creed and conduct.
- Is from the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah
- Adheres to one of the 4 madhabs. (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi, Hanbali)
- Possesses the correct Aqeedah in accordance with what has been established by the scholars of the Ahlus Sunnah before us such as Imam Tahawi, Imam Nasafi Rahimahumallah and others.
- Does not engage in Bid’ah
- Is pious, trustworthy and of good character
- He has studied under and graduated under reputable Ulama
- He still possesses the support of his elders and teachers
- He is accepted amongst mainstream Ulama of our manhaj
- He does not openly commit any wrongs
If these qualities are present, then one may listen to such a speaker.

وقال ابن أبي أويس: «سمعت خالي مالك بن أنس يقول: إنّ هذا العلم دين فانظروا عمن تأخذون دينكم … »
