Question
If I become an alim ان شاء الله , my family says who will provide for me how will I make money
so to say I will try my best ( look for a job or start a business after ) and Allah will provide for me is right or wrong ?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
A true believer realises that Almighty Allah wants from him a state of balance. Tawakkul (reliance) on Allah does not mean that one abandons all means in a world made of means. Rather, Tawakkul is that I will do what I can do, and I know my Allah will not abandon me and will still sustain me.
Therefore, if with proper mashwera with the right people, you have decided to become an Aalim, then there is nothing wrong in believing and saying Allah will provide for me, knowing full well that you will do your best to make a living.
The fact of the matter is that none of us know what Allah has in store for us. One may pursue a degree in an important field but still not have a good life. One may give his life for the sake of Allah and Allah will open ways which before seemed impossible.
