Question
Salam. Hope you are well.
I was wondering if I could name my clothing brand Min Al-Jannah. I don’t know if it’s grammatically correct first of all. More importantly, I don’t know if it’s offensive or wrong in Islam to name a clothing brand this. It will be for Women’s clothing, modern, Western clothing. There are no hijabs, the arms are showing in some clothing, and the clothing is a little fitted to the body. There are jewelry and adornments for women, too.
Thank you/Jazakhallah Khair.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The Arabic phrase ‘Min-al-Jannah’ means ‘From Paradise’. As Muslims, we believe it is our submission to Almighty Allah and His religion that grants us salvation and entry into Jannah. Inappropriate or immodest clothing which is not permissible for Muslims to wear in public cannot be labelled as being from Jannah. Therefore, it is unethical to name your store in this manner.
