Question
Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuhu
Is wearing a t shirt and loose bottoms in the home as casual
and comfy clothes
Or is that also counted as following Other nations
Pliz advice

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is permissible to wear loose comfy clothes in one’s private home as there are no non-mahrams usually present. As for the type of clothing, most normative clothing today will not fall under the prohibition of imitation of disbelievers as the clothes in question will not be such that only non-Muslims wear them. For example, t-shirts, track bottoms, jeans, skirts, most dresses, etc. These clothes offer a modicum of modesty without eliminating one’s dignity. Therefore, they will be permissible.
The key word here would be ‘normative’ as there are types of clothing to which one’s immediate reaction would be ‘weird’ or ‘odd’. That is a telltale sign of something the inherent nature finds displeasing, hence, should be avoided.
