Question
Assalamualaikum w.w
I have been having a problem with keeping my wudhu… I keep doubting whether I pass wind or not and keep making like 4 to 5 times for one salah
For example, I start salah and feel like I passed wind, but I’m not sure. Then I’ll go make wudhu and keep doing that
Needed some help onthisg
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam gave the solution for your predicament. See the following hadith.
عن عباد بن تميم، عن عمه، قال: شكي إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم الرجل يجد في الصلاة شيئا أيقطع الصلاة؟ قال: لا حتى يسمع صوتا أو يجد ريحا
Translation: “A matter was raised to Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam about a man who thinks something has occurred in salah (he keeps thinking he passes wind), should he break the salah (and renew wudhu)? He replied, No, not until he hears the sound of it or smells it.” (Bukhari – 2056)
Therefore, you must abide by this ruling. Once you have performed wudhu and started salah, your wudhu will remain intact despite whatever you think as long as you do not clearly hear it or smell it.
