Pray all is well
I wanted to ask does one have to pay zakat if they own 6 tola of gold only?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The nisaab of gold is 87.48 grams. 6 tola is 69.984 grams. Therefore, if you only possess this gold, no silver, no cash in hand, no stock/goods for trade, then Zakat is not due on you.
However, if you possess some cash in hand, or some silver, then you shall have to combine the value of your 6 tola of gold as well as the cash and silver and stock for trade. If the combined value of all these exceeds the silver nisaab ($1877 as at 02/03/26), then Zakat will be due.
