Question
During work with a Hindu colleague I told him about our religion islam and some of the rulings of islam.
He was telling about hinduism and during the conversation he told something like “lord krishna was there right….”
I stayed silent for sometime
And later said HMM..
In my heart i believed only Allah is true god and there is no lord except Allah.. and I dont beleive in their religion or deities. Does me saying “Hmm…” count as an acknowledgement for their statement even though i did not believe in what they said.
Will it be kufr and will it take one out of the fold of islam and will they have to renew their nikah(main question)
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Imaan and Kufr are rooted in actual belief and faith. Saying hmm in the context of the discussion is not belief, hence, it is not kufr. It is merely an acknowledgment of speech of the other person.
