Question
for example let’s say a person did sin at night smoking or listened to music or watched something sinful. if he wakes up and sees that the jamah ended is he accountable because he sinned at night?
is the sin accounted separately because the excuse is irrelevant because the person never misses the salat? or is it accounted because he sinned?
the issue here is that the person never misses salat or fajr. this is the 6th time this year, and the incident happened first time in this year or first time in life in general. the person prayed fajr on time but missed the jamah. first time meaning the person sinned at night and he did not wake up. where as other times he works, plays games or sins (due to weakness sometimes) but never misses the salat.this happened due to not being cautious enough to think about missing fajr.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
At times, sins may become a cause for deprivation of good deeds. At times, good deeds become the cause for protection from sins. It is a cycle that is dependent on one’s true intentions and practices. Therefore, sin, which only Allah can decide, is also dependent on factors beyond our reach.
Nevertheless, it is a wake-up call when sins end up depriving us of important good deeds, especially faraaidh. So, there is no point worrying over what causes what or whether one is specifically accountable for a certain thing or not. Rather, we should simply make tawbah and attempt to rectify our ways.
The cycle of sin and repentance is not one that is despised. Rather, it is sin without tawbah that is cause for concern.
