Talaq during Nifaas and Iddah

Question
How will iddah be counted if a person gives talaq whilst the wife is in the halat of nifaas?

Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The ruling of talaq issued during Haidh and Nifas is the same. Just as it is impermissible to issue a talaq during Haidh, similarly it is impermissible to issue a talaq during Nifas. However, if one did issue the talaq during Nifas, the talaq will occur.[1]
If it was a talaq-e-raj’ī (revocable divorce), it is necessary for the husband to take the wife back. However, if he decides not to take her back or it is a talaq-e-bā’in (non- revocable divorce), her ‘iddat will be 3 menstrual cycles after the completion of her nifaas.[2]
