Question
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
How to calculate zakat on salary account where money is credited and debited so frequently?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Zakat is calculated on ones wealth at the end of one lunar year. All one needs to do is check the account balance on that date, add creditors, and subtract liabilities. The balance will be the amount on which zakat is to be calculated.
