Question
Assalamualikum Muftiyan e iqram
I hope All of you are good
I wanted to ask about how zakaah will be payable on the jewellery given to a girl at the time of marriage.
In my case I got married on 9th December 2022(15th Jumada l, 1444) that’s when my wife was given jewellery from her parents, thing is that the parents were discharging Zakaah of same jewellery every year in the month of Ramadan, now does my wife have to discharge Zakaah next year 15th Jumada or she had to discharge last Ramdan which is gone
Please advise us what to do now

You state that your wife’s parents discharge their Zakaat in Ramadhaan. The jewellery was handed to your wife prior to Ramadhaan. Your wife will add that jewellery to her Zakaatable assets and pay Zakaat on the jewellery on her Zakaat date.
Your wife’s parents will no longer discharge Zakaat on that jewellery as it is no longer in their possession.
