Question
When we are travelling it sometimes happens that we are on the flight going from a country to another and by instance fajr or magrib or any other namaz with short time, comes on the way. Do we have to follow the taqweem of the country from where we departed or to where we will arrive. What if we don’t know the distance to either countries.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
One is required to consider the time of salah in his actual location. One may consult a flight attendant and find out which country one is flying over and use reliable apps to check the salah times.
The salah times for fajr, maghrib and isha can be easily ascertained by looking out the window and waiting for a portion of the night to pass.
