Question
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
My brother, I want to know that if a Shia performed a Shia prayer for several years, but then switched to Ahlu Sunnah, should he make up the prayers that he performed when he was a Shia ?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The dominant and most prevalent forms of shiasm contain multiple beliefs which directly oppose the Quran and Sunnah.
Some of the incorrect beliefs of shiasm are: (We seek refuge in Allah)
- The Quran is incomplete.
- The twelve shia imams possess all knowledge of the unseen.
- The twelve shia imams are superior to other prophets.
- Most of the sahabah became murtad apart from a select few.
A shia holding such beliefs will not be a Muslim. As such, if he is guided to the way of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah, he would be analogous to a non-Muslim revert. He does not have to perform qadha of past prayers.
A shia holding beliefs that would only render him equal to an innovator should make tawbah from his past. He too does not need to make qadha of past salah.
