Believing in luck

Question

Asalamu alaykum, hope you are well. I wanted to find out the reasoning behind why believing in luck is haram.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Belief in Taqdeer (predestination) is a fundamental aspect of our creed. Luck is to believe in chance. Predestination and chance are two opposites. Therefore, there is no such thing as luck.
