Is it permissible to work for a company who make haraam items?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, one will consider the actual nature of the job in order to determine whether it is permissible to work there.[1] For example, if one is working in a non-Muslim owned bank, then if he works in a position that does not require him to directly deal with interest or similar impermissible elements, then his job will be permissible. However, should he work in a position that requires him to directly deal with impermissible elements, then the job will not be permissible.
In order to ascertain whether a specific job is permissible, we would require further details.
