The barzakh

Question

Is there a parallel existence where the dead are still alive, called Barzakh.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The intermediate stage between worldly death and the life of the hereafter (which begins from the day of resurrection) is known as the Barzakh or the life of the grave.

The life of the grave (barzakh) is not exactly like the life of this world. But it is in the barzakh that its dweller is either treated to Jannah and its luxuries or Jahannum and its punishments. These are felt, perceived and experienced by the dweller. The souls are alive an otherworldly life, to put it into simple terms.
