Question
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Mufti saheb if a naa baaligh child breaks his fast, or his salah or his i’tikaaf, what would be the ruling?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Shari’ah has only burdened adults with responsibilities for which they will be held accountable by Almighty Allah. Buloogh is the benchmark for adulthood.
Therefore, non-baaligh children do not have to make up any broken fasts, salah, etc. However, if the child is close to buloogh, it is necessary on the parents to discipline the child in order to emphasise the significance of the faraaidh in an adult’s life.
