Delayed Rukhsati

Question

Assalam walaikum

my question is ALHAMDULILAH my nikkah was done may 2021 but still rukhsati is not done in this periods between me and my wife meet in private  but still rukhsati is not done almost 4.5 year i want to know our nikkah is valid or we should do again nikkah what is the rule in islam kindly tell me

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, a nikah contract makes the bride and groom halal for each other. The delay of rukhsati has no impact on this, no matter how much time passes between the nikah and the eventual rukhsati. Therefore, your nikah is still valid and intact.

As a general rule, rukhsati should not be delayed without valid reason.
