Deodorants With Alcohol

Question
Assalamoalaikum www.
Am I allowed to use deodorants considering the fact that most of them contain a bit of alcohol?

Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, alcohol derived from dates and grapes is Haraam [1] and unsuitable for external use.[2] However, most deodorants and perfumes nowadays contain synthetic alcohol, which is permissible for external use.[3] If one applies deodorants or perfumes containing synthetic alcohol, the clothes will remain pure. Salaah with such perfumes or deodorants is valid.

وإن معظم الكحول التي تستعمل اليوم في الأدوية والعطور وغيرها لا تتخذ من العنب أو التمر، إنما تتخذ من الحبوب او القشور او البترول وغيره كما ذكرنا في باب بيع الخمر من كتاب البيوع وحينئذ هناك فسحة في الأخذ بقول أبي حنيفة عند عموم البلوي
