Question
Assalamu what is the ruling concerning comprehensive insurance in zambia
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Insurance is not permissible due to elements of interest, gambling and gharar (deceit) found therein. Third party insurance is a legal requirement to drive a car. Therefore, only third-party insurance is permissible. In the event comprehensive insurance is cheaper than third party insurance, one can opt for comprehensive instead of third party. What is permitted is the least possible minimum which will fulfill the requirement.
