Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The names of women do not form part of their awrah, and as such, there is no legal requirement to shield their names. However, should a family opt to do so, it is part of modesty.
Whilst it is true that one may not immediately know who passed away or is getting married via a notice without the name of a female, one is certain to find out later on through word of mouth, as used to be the case before social media. Therefore, should a family opt to conceal the names of their females, it is their choice.
