Question

I would also like to ask..

Can one make hajj and umrah on behalf of multiple people who have past away or who are alive?

Or is it correct to say you can only do one hajj and one umrah for and behalf of one person at a time

Please clarify

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

One has the following two options:

Perform Umrah or Hajj on behalf of another person (alive or deceased) such that at the time of intending the Ihraam of umrah or hajj, one intends that this umrah or hajj is on behalf of so and so. In this instance, only one person can be intended, and the action will be on behalf of that person solely.
One performs the Umrah or Hajj for him/herself, then does isaale-thawaab of its reward to either one person or multiple people.
