Status of ‘walk ins’ during weddings in islam

Question

What is the status of walk ins, during weddings in islam?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is a tradition of non-Muslims. It should not be done.

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,

عن ابنِ عُمَرَ، قال: قال رسولُ الله صلَّى الله عليه وسلم: مَن تَشَبَّه بقومٍ فهو منهم

Translation: “Whoever imitates a nation will be (counted) from them.” (Abu Dawood – 4031)
