Question
Mufti shb what dua is proven in Ahaadeeth when Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم saw a small child?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Hereunder are the Du’as Nabi (ﷺ) made for various Sahabah:
“ اللَّهُمَّ عَلِّمْهُ الْحِكْمَةَ ”
Translation: Ibn Abaas (Radhiallahu Anhuma) narrates:
Once the Prophet (ﷺ) embraced me (pressed me to his chest) and said, “O Allah, teach him wisdom (i.e. the understanding of the knowledge of Qur’an).
(Saheeh Al-Bukhari)
“ اللَّهُمَّ عَلِّمْهُ الْحِكْمَةَ وَتَأْوِيلَ الْكِتَابِ ”
‘O Allah, teach him wisdom and the (correct) interpretation of the Book.’
(Sunan Ibn-Maajah)
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لاَمَّةٍ
Nabi (ﷺ) used to seek refuge with Allah for Hasan and Husain (Radhiallahu Anhuma) and say: “Your forefather (i.e.Ebrahim Alaihis-salaam) used to seek Refuge with Allah for Ismaill and Ishaaq (Alaihimusalaam) by reciting the following:
‘O Allah! I seek Refuge with Your Perfect Words from every devil and from poisonous pests and from every evil, harmful, envious eye.’
(Saheeh Al-Bukhari)
“ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا وَاهْدِ بِهِ ”
Nabi (ﷺ) said to Mu’awiyah (Radhiallahuanhu): “O Allah, make him a guiding one, and guide (others) by him.”
(Jaami Al- Tirmidhi)
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Translation: A man who was stung by a scorpion was brought to Nabi (ﷺ). He said: Had he said the word: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created, “he would not have been stung, or he said, “It would not have harmed him.”
