Question
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله و بركاته
Is it permissible to donate the placenta after birth for medical reasons like they use it in treatment for cancer and children with deformities and illnesses etc? A quick response will be greatly appreciated
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The Fuqahā have ruled that it is generally impermissible to use any part of a human being. Accordingly, it is not permissible to donate the placenta for sicknesses or to aid in treatment of deformities.

ولأن الآدمي بجميع أجزائه مكرم والانتفاع بالجزء المنفصل منه إهانة له

وفي الخانية ينبغي أن يدفن قلامة ظفره ومحلوق شعره وإن رماه فلا بأس وكره إلقاؤه في كنيف أو مغتسل لأن ذلك يورث داء وروي أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أمر بدفن الشعر والظفر وقال لا تتغلب به سحرة بني آدم اهـ ولأنهما من أجزاء الآدمي فتحترم وروى الترمذي عن عائشة رضي الله عنها كان صلى الله عليه وسلم أمر بدفن سبعة أشياء من الإنسان الشعر والظفر والحيضة والسن والقلفة والمسحة اهـ والحيضة بكسر الحاء المهملة خرقة الحيض والجمع محايض كذا في الصحاح
