Question
Moulana saheb is duaa ko ajirni parheynge yaa ajurni parhenge. Ibne katheer me ajurni hai aur hisne hasin me ajirni hai
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The dua you refer to is as follows:
إنّا لِلَّهِ وإنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ اْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتي، وأخْلِفْ لي خَيْراً مِنْها [i]
Imam Nawawi states in his commentary that there are two ways of pronouncing the words of the du’a, the first of which is preferable:
- اللَّهُمَّ اْجُرْنِي : with a Sukoon on the Hamzah (Allahumma’ jurni)
- اللَّهُمَّ آجُرْنِي : with a maddah on the Hamzah that precedes the letter jeem (Allahumma Aajurni)[ii]
The pronunciation you have quoted from Hisnul haseen (Allahumma Ajirni) does not fit into any of the abovementioned pronunciations.
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
