Asalaamu alaikum. On the issue that salafis have in regard of rafa yadayn for hanafis they quote that imam bukhari quotes from hasan al basri that not a single sahaba negated rafa yadayn in other words all the sahabah did rafa yadayn before and after ruku. Now above the darul ifta deoband gives evidence for us on the same issue from the same book juz rafa yadain by imam bukhari? So which one is sahih correct? And was their ever a classical reply from the salaf of our ahnaf ulama on imam bukharis athar from hasan al basri?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Respected Brother,
The answer provided by Darul Iftaa Deoband fully explains the reasoning behind the stance of the Hanafi Ulama and others as well.
The practice of Raf’ul Yadayn was in the beginning and was later abrogated. This explanation reconciles the differing narrations adequately.
As a side note, seldom do debates with the Salafi people prove fruitful. It is our advice that you should stick to whatever you are doing, knowing full well that each practice of ours has a precedent from the great Imams of the Salaf who have deduced said laws directly from the Quran and Hadith.
