Question
السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته
I pray all is well.
I have a question with regards to a Hindu marrying a Muslim.
A few friends come together. (I’ll name the people to understand the situation).
Zaid asks Saliha (Muslim) if she accepts John (Hindu) in her marriage. Saliha says yes. Zaid asks the same to John and he agrees too (in the presence of others)
- Will their Nikah be accepted?
- Will the girl have to stay with the guy?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, it is not permissible to marry a Hindu person. [1]
In the scenario in reference, the Nikaah is not valid. Hence, the girl does not have to live with the Hindu man.
