Question
Asalaamu alaikum. Is it wajib for a woman to remove pubic and underarm hair and cut nails after her period?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, it is Makrooh to leave one’s unwanted hair (pubic and underarm) and nails uncut for a period longer than 40 days.[1] It is necessary to remove the hair and cut the nails before 40 days elapse.
It is permissible for a woman to remove unwanted hair and trim her nails during menstruation.[2] There is no ruling which states that it is wajib upon her to do so after menstruation.

فقہاء کرام کی تصریحات کی روشنی میں مرد و عورت کے لیے جنابت کی حالت میں ناخن اور بال کاٹنا مکروہ ہے …اسی فرق کی بنا پر حیض و نفاس والی عورتوں کے ناخن یا زیر ناف بال اگر بڑہ چکے ہوں تو ان کو کاٹنا بلا کراہت جائز معلوم ہو تا ہے ۔
