Question
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Can my husband’s brothers, sisters or their spouses stay in my room in my absence?
My husband says that since it is his room also, so he can give the room to anyone to stay. Is his saying right?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
If the room in question belongs to the husband, then he is able to do with it as he pleases. If it belongs to you, then he cannot allow anyone else to use it without your permission. Similar is the case if the room is jointly owned by both of you.
Nevertheless, if allowing someone else to use the room in question violates your privacy, then you should respectfully ask your husband to be considerate and respect your wishes especially if alternate arrangements can easily be made for his siblings.
