Question
Assalammualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,
I am from Mombasa, Kenya. I am a DevOps Engineer by profession and I have currently joined MuduPay which is a fin-tech company.
MuduPay is currently working with a bank and creating a mobile application for it. The mobile application offers many services and amongst them is to offer loans and charge interest on those loans. The founder, who is a Muslim, has a signed a contract with the Bank that MuduPay will NOT benefit from the loan service, but it will build the service for them.
My job, as the DevOps Engineer, is to host and maintain the entire application. To make sure that the users can use ALL the services without fail. Is this job considered halal or should I withdraw from the company?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
We commend you for your sensitivity on earning halaal and abstaining from haraam. It is this attitude that brings Barakah (blessings) in one’s earnings.
Nabi (ﷺ) said:
طَلَبُ كَسْبِ الْحَلَالِ فَرِيضَةٌ بَعْدَ الْفَرِيضَةِ
Translation: Earning of Halal income is an obligation beyond other obligations.
(Shuabul Imaan, Baihaqi)
In principle, if the software has dual or multiple purposes, some of which can be used for permissible purposes and others for impermissible purposes, and your objective is to maintain it for a permissible objective, then it is permissible to maintain and host such a software.
The income from hosting such a software will be halaal.
Thereafter, if an individual or company uses the software for any impermissible activity, the responsibility of the same will be solely upon the user. [1]

ویب سایٹ پر اشتہار کلک کرنے کی اجرت لینا:
ویب سائٹ سے استفادہ کے لئے ایک ہزار روپیہ جمع کرنا ایک مستقل معاملہ ہے جو فی نفسہٖ درست ہے، اس کے بعد کمپنی سے اس ویب سائٹ پر متعین اشتہارات کا کلک کرنے پر ہر ہفتہ جو اجرت ملتی ہے، اگر شرط کے مطابق یہ معاملہ ناجائز باتوں سے متعلق ہو (جیسا کہ آج کل عام معمول ہے کہ اشتہارات میں عریاں تصاویر لگائی جاتی ہیں) تو گناہ پر تعاون کی وجہ سے یہ عمل جائز نہ ہوگا، ایسے معاملات سے مسلمانوں کو بچنا لازم ہے۔ اور اگر ایسے اشتہارات ہیں جن میں کوئی ناجائز بات شامل نہیں، تو حسبِ شرط اُن پر کلک کرنے پر متعینہ اُجرت لینا درست ہے۔
