Question
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
What is the ruling regarding beef gelatine? Is it haram ? What if its from halal slaughtered animals?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Gelatine derived from a halal animal that was slaughtered in the correct shar’i manner will be permissible to consume. Gelatine derived from a non halal animal will be impermissible to consume.
There is a difference of opinion with regards to gelatin of halal animals that have not been slaughtered in a shar’i manner. Therefore, caution would be to avoid its consumption.[1]
