Question
السلام علیکم و رحمة الله و بركاته
Hope the ulama are well
I have read up multiple articles of issues with yellow discharge…and haidh…
A women with a case in I think darul iftaa azaadville had haidh for 7 days her usual amount of time and there after yellow discharge continues. The answer was that if after day 7 her yellow continues and stops before 9 it will be haidh but if it continues it will be istihadah after ten days.
Another reliable website has said for this women who had continous discharge of yellow or random discharge after her haid the blood will be haidh and it will be counted from the time blood comes till day 10.
And the third one a women has leuchorrea which is also continuous discharge of yellow she asked darul iftaa deoband about regards to her after haidh and they said that if she knows it is her yellow discharge then it will not be haidh but if she knows the yellow if haidh she will regard it as haid as she knows herself best.
Also yellow discharge is normal for women. It is sometimes mixed with haidh after the blood ceases but you can kinda tell when it is….
I’m not sure about someone’s case. They have the blood as usual for 7 days then they think they are clean they dont really remember about the yellow….then the next month they have haidh for 7 days and then for 1 day they have the haidh yellow. And then continuous yellow discharge like …start then stop after a few hours start stop. Start stop. sometimes stops for a few days this exceeded the 10 days . But this yellow was not the haidh yellow like it seems like the normall yellow. And then the next month 7 days also haidh and then the haidh yellow for one day like usaul and then seemingly normally yellow after..
What’s haidh for her and what isn’t?

Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The differences you have come across stem from the fact that the cause for yellow discharge differs and the subsequent ruling would differ accordingly. Furthermore, the rules of haidh are such that they can differ person to person at times. Yellow discharge is one of those cases.
The default rule is that discharge of all colours besides clear or white would be classed as haidh. However, this ruling allows for some exceptions due to some common irregularities found in women.
If a woman never experiences yellow discharge, then at times she sees it during her potential haidh days, then the applicable ruling is that it will be treated as haidh. And the normal rule of haidh is that if the bleeding (including yellow) exceeds 10 days, then the woman has to revert to her habit.
On the contrary, if a woman regularly experiences yellow discharge, such that, to her, it is as common as normal vaginal discharge, then she will not consider yellow discharge as haidh. Rather, only normal expected bleeding and spotting would be haidh. Yellow discharge would be as good as clear or white discharge for her.
It is also possible for normal clear or white discharge to oxidise on one’s inner garments thereby making it look like yellow discharge. Such discharge would not be haidh despite the color, rather it will be bound by the normal laws of vaginal discharge.
Lastly is the more difficult situation of a woman who experiences yellow discharge but with noticeable differences in texture, color, smell etc such that she considers one to most likely be haidh and another to only be normal vaginal discharge. For her, she may apply the rules of haidh based on what she thinks is haidh yellow and what she thinks is regular discharge yellow.
This summarises the differences you have come across.
